Last year, at the famous Baselworld event, Switzerland classic watches have battled with the SmartWatch, specifically with Connected from TAG Heuer and with Exospace B55 from Breitling.

This confrontation is real and it’s really happening, because last year smartwaches were sold in greater numbers than Swiss watches: 8.1 million smartwatches and 7.9 million swiss watches at the end of 2015.

This year has not brought any improvement for the classic watch, because many manufacturers have launched new smartwaches or have expanded the lines they already had. And some people say that this year’s smartwaches are faster, smarter and some look pretty good. Below you can find three watches that stood out:

Samsung Gear S2, by De Grisogono

When you hear that the Swiss jewelry house de Grisogono announces that it begins a collaboration with Samsung, it’s guaranteed that you can expect a luxury product. Thus the most opulent SmartWatch on the market is born, available only for women.

It will be available this summer and has a 41mm case made out of rose gold and black DLC-coated stainless steel. There are 71 black diamonds and 56 white diamonds, with a strap made out of black galuchat. The watch can connect via Bluetooth, WiFi and an NFC chip.

It has all kinds of sensors including: an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a heart rate and ambient light monitor, plus a barometer.

You have some functions for fitness, you can also make certain payments and smart key Integrations. One feature that stands out is its two digital dials that mimic analog ones. You can set the clock to show in two ways: an indicator for day / night at 3 o’clock, a date indicator at 6 o’clock and a small seconds indicator at nine, or a two-hand dial with a central seconds counter, a power-reserve indicator at four o’clock, and a moon phase at eight o’clock.

When you look at this watch, you could say that it’s a classic and not a SmartWatch. But Frédérique Constant’s Horological Smartwatch, which was made public for the first time last year, received some new features: a new worldtimer function that syncs with your smartphone, so you can display two time zones at once. It has a navy blue 42mm dial, blue crocodile strap and a gold-plated steel case. A classic look for the person who is still hesitant about the concept of connected watches.

Tissot Smart-Touch

This SmartWatch is the new member of the T-Touch family. It has a case made of solid titanium, a ceramic bezel and an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. It has around 30 functions: it checks the weather data, GPS navigation, it synchronizes with different time zones, you can check humidity, air quality and it has altimeter readings. It doesn’t look complicated and all you have to do is to know what you want the watch to do and touch to activate.
