When the summer heat hits, there’s nothing better than a beach getaway. From relaxing under the sun to thrilling water activities, people flock to the sand and surf for a variety of fun, relaxation, and adventure. With so many stunning beachesaround the world, each offers its own unique charm, depending on what you’re after. Picture yourself sitting on a reclining chair, watching the tides surge and ebb while enjoying the gentle caress of the wind. And beyond that, there are even more exciting activities to enjoy. Whether you crave crystal-clear waters, breathtaking sunsets, or a vibrant beach scene, here’s some of the best beach destinations to enjoy this summer:

Villasimius, Sardinia Sardegna Island, Italy

Villasimius is a community in the Province of Cagliari, about 35 kilometers east of Cagliari. The region has been home to inhabitants for thousands of years prior to its tourism industry kicking off in the 1960s. Villiasimius plays host to a myriad tourist attractions and rich culture. Many of the most sensational beaches in the beautiful city of Sardinia are in the vicinity of the traditional coastal village of Villasimius.

Villasimius boasts some truly stunning coastal gems. Spiaggia di Porto Giunco, for instance, offers crystal-clear waters and pristine white sand – a remarkable sight even on an island abundant with natural beauty. Another must-visit is the swimming bay at Cala Pira, nestled beside the island of Serpentara. Here, glistening white sands meet fragrant maquis, all watched over by Sardinia’s ancient nuraghi. The sea in Villasimius is remarkably clear, revealing its stunning azure hues from a distance. This expansive sandy stretch is popular for windsurfing and, despite attracting many sun-seekers in summer, always feels uncrowded

Beach Sotavento, Canary Islands, Spain

Ever seen a beach so long that it is considered a several beaches within one? That is Sotavento. It is an enormous sand beach in the south of Fuerteventura on its east coast. In fact, Sotavento is normally thought of as five separate areas: La Barca, Risco del Paso, Mirador, Malnombre and Los Canarios. Sotavento is so large that you’ll never find it overcrowded, and at some spots, you might even find yourself completely alone. In some areas, the water is very shallow, and you’ll have to walk a long way out for your feet to be off the ground.

Caló des Moro Beach, Majorca, Balearic Islands

Caló des Moro is located in the southeast of Mallorca, about 6 kilometers from Santanyí and about 20 kilometres from Cala d’Or. Moro has been said to be Mallorca’s best kept secret. It is a beautiful virgin beach, with a length of about 40 metres, located between rocks and pine trees that offer a small oasis to rest from the summer heat. It has a peculiar shape that is reminiscent of an enormous swimming pool.

There are no water sports activities to be offered at this beach, but it is a perfect place to swim, dive, snorkel or just spend the day on the beach and appreciate the beauty of this place.

Voidokilia Beach

Voidokilia is an horseshoe-shaped beach tucked away on the coast of Messinia. It is at the top of most people’s bucket list for good reasons – a perfect coloring of blue sea and golden sand.

When one approaches it on foot, a path extends through the Gialova lagoon, where one finds an observatory and other observation points along the way. The visitor is also treated to a colorful sight of more than 250 different species of bird, of which 79 are on the Red List of species under threat of extinction, including migratory birds.

Guests can spend the rest of the day lazing and swimming, but find time to explore the beach, picking up the path beyond the sand dunes at the far end that leads up to Nestor’s Cave. The story goes that this is where Hermes hid the cattle stolen from Apollo.
